W. E. Buddy Shaw
Buddy Shaw began his insurance career in 1975 in West Tennessee. In 1978, he
moved to Hendersonville and became affiliated with a Property and Casualty
agency in Nashville, Tennessee, establishing and maintaining an employee
benefits division for its clients and affiliates.
In 1988, Shaw established his own agency, W.E. Shaw and Associates, specializing
in quality products and services to meet the employee benefit needs of his
client base. Since that time the agency has more than doubled in size, but
continues to operate on the premise that each client deserves a high level of
service and integrity in the programs designed and implemented on their behalf.
The company has been recognized by numerous insurance
entities for
its production and the quality of service and expertise provided to its clients.
W.E. Shaw and Associates has served
as consultant to various companies throughout the Southeast since 1980 in the
planning, marketing, communication and implementation of employee benefit
programs including, but not limited to, ASO, self funding programs, retirement
plans (including 401k and tax sheltered annuity 403(b) programs), section 125
cafeteria programs and other life, health, dental and disability benefits.

Mike Dodd
Mike is a licensed ERISA attorney with experience working with clients of all
sizes in addressing matters related to all forms of employee benefits, including
both pension and welfare plans. His experience includes assisting clients with
establishing and maintaining compliance for a wide array of pension and welfare
plans, including 401(k) plans, profit sharing plans, defined benefit (including
cash balance) plans, employee stock ownership plans, 403(b) plans, 457 plans,
cafeteria plans, medical reimbursement plans and many other types of plans.
Mike has represented clients before the IRS, Department of Labor, and the
Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.
Mike received a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of
Tennessee-Martin, where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, as well
as many other academic and social organizations. In 2001, Mike graduated with a
juris doctorate from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of
Law. While a student at the University of Memphis, Mike was a member of the
University of Memphis Law Review and served as President of Phi Alpha Delta Law
Fraternity. After graduating from Memphis, Mike went on to earn an LL.M.
(Masters of Laws) in Taxation from the University of Florida in 2002.
Mike is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, Nashville Bar Association and
the Middle Tennessee Employee Benefits Council. In addition, Mike is a member
of the Brentwood Morning Rotary Club, President of the University of Memphis
Alumni Association's Nashville Club and a representative for the University of
Memphis Tiger Scholarship Fund.

Mike Fussell
Mike Fussell began his insurance career in 1966 after earning his Bachelor of Science
Degree from the University of Chattanooga. He joined
W.E. Shaw and Associates after a thirty-year career
with Provident Life and Accident Insurance Company where he held several home
office and field positions including manager of their Nashville Branch Office.
Mike earned
his CLU designation in 1972 and ChFC in 1983. Throughout his career he has been active in both industry and
community service organizations. He
served as President of the Nashville Association of Life Underwriters in 1988,
President of the Nashville Chapter of CLU/ChFC in 1989, President of the
Nashville Breakfast Exchange Club in 1992, President of the Nashville Area
Athletic Club in 1994 and he is currently a member of the Hendersonville
Industrial Development Board.

Henry Ballard
Henry Ballard,
former Chief Financial Officer for Mid-State Automotive Distributors, Inc.,
joined
W.E. Shaw and Associates after having successfully been involved in taking
Mid-State Automotive public on the NASDAQ Exchange.
During his
tenure with Mid-State Automotive, in addition to his role as Chief Financial
Officer, he was responsible for overseeing the design and implementation of
workers compensation and all employee benefit programs, including the self
funded medical program, life, disability and 401(k). He provides expertise in the area of compensation and benefit plans and
risk management, with the full understanding of the corporate clients
perspective.

Elton Coleman
Charles R. Mc Pherson
After receiving his Master of
Science Degree from Appalachian State University in 1976, Chuck began a 25-year
career with Blue Bell, Inc. and later VF Corporation. After managing functions
such as recruiting and the hourly pension plan, as well as several employee
relations and generalist functions, Chuck was named Vice President of Human
Resources for Red Kap Industries in 1992. He held this position until April of
2001. His experience includes managing and negotiating benefit and insurance
plans for a company in excess of 10,000 employees. He also managed the
integration of six different acquisition companies into this corporation.
McPherson also has experience
with implementation of benefit programs including ASO, self-funded programs
including Medical and Workers Compensation, retirement programs both Defined
Benefit and Defined Contribution, section 125 cafeteria programs as well as
life, dental and disability programs. His background includes compensation as
well as risk management. Chuck has an understanding of the client’s
perspective.

Jean Shaw
Prior to entering the insurance field in 1992,
Jean Shaw spent fifteen years in the personnel and human resource fields
including the administration of employee benefit programs in the corporate
environment. Jean provides support and expertise to our staff regarding HR
issues that relate to employee benefits.

Judy Goins
Judy Goins attended the University of TN and has
over 20 years experience in the insurance industry. Her career includes
managing Employee Benefit/Financial Services for two commercial insurance
agencies. Her position involved marketing, sales and services. She increased
sales in the group arena and established long term relationships with her
clients. The client’s ability to trust and know they are receiving the highest
comprehensive information and services available has always been her philosophy.
Her background includes both the small group
marketplace and large cases, in excess of 5,000 employees.
In 1999 Judy left the
management of employee benefits and became an independent Benefit Consultant.
As a consultant she communicated benefits to employees and managed enrollments
of larger national accounts.

Connie
Elliott
Prior to entering the insurance field, Connie
spent 12 years in office management, payroll services, and computer program
administration. She serves as the agency’s office manager. Her
responsibilities include overseeing our computer database, staffing issues and
day-to-day operations. She also provides direct support to the officers
of
W.E. Shaw and Associates.
